Modern Slavery Statement
Kennington Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Kennington Man and Van in respect of its operations and supply chains. It sets out the steps we are taking, and will continue to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in any part of our business and supplier relationships. We are committed to operating transparently, ethically, and with respect for human rights.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Kennington Man and Van has a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation in all their forms. This applies to every aspect of our activities, from the recruitment and management of our people to the selection and ongoing evaluation of our suppliers and business partners.
We recognise that modern slavery can occur in many forms, including forced or compulsory labour, servitude, bonded labour, and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with any individual or organisation that is involved in modern slavery practices and will immediately take steps to address and, where necessary, terminate relationships where breaches are identified.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Kennington Man and Van operates in the transport and removals sector, providing man and van services to domestic and commercial customers. Our supply chains primarily include vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging providers, uniform suppliers, and other contracted service providers.
We recognise that some parts of the wider transport and logistics sector may be vulnerable to labour exploitation. As such, we work to ensure that our own activities and those of our suppliers reflect our values and our commitment to preventing modern slavery.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers, contractors, and business partners to share our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery. As part of our supplier due diligence process, we assess the ethical standards and labour practices of current and prospective suppliers. We seek assurance that workers are employed freely, receive fair pay, and are treated with dignity and respect.
Where appropriate, Kennington Man and Van conducts checks and audits of higher-risk suppliers, either through self-assessment questionnaires or direct reviews, to confirm that suitable policies, controls, and training are in place. Continued engagement with a supplier is dependent on their ongoing compliance with our standards and applicable legislation relating to labour and human rights.
Policies, Training, and Awareness
Our internal policies support our commitment to combatting modern slavery. These policies cover ethical conduct, recruitment practices, equal opportunities, and the welfare and safety of our workforce. We aim to ensure that all workers have the right to work, are recruited transparently, and are not charged recruitment fees.
Kennington Man and Van promotes awareness of modern slavery indicators among relevant personnel. Managers and team leaders are encouraged to remain alert to signs of exploitation, such as unusual working patterns, restrictions on freedom of movement, or evidence that an individual is being controlled by another person.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We are committed to creating an environment where concerns relating to modern slavery can be raised without fear of reprisal. Any employee, worker, supplier, or other stakeholder who suspects or becomes aware of potential modern slavery or human trafficking involving our business or supply chains is encouraged to report it.
Concerns can be raised verbally or in writing to management or via established internal reporting routes. All reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. Where appropriate, we will refer matters to the relevant authorities and take swift action to protect individuals who may be at risk.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Kennington Man and Van recognises that the fight against modern slavery is an ongoing effort. We are committed to continually improving our procedures, training, and oversight of supply chains to reduce the risk of exploitation.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every twelve months to assess its effectiveness and to reflect any changes in legislation, business operations, or identified areas for improvement. Updates to our approach and any significant actions taken will be incorporated into each annual review, ensuring that our response remains robust, relevant, and proportionate.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Kennington Man and Van, who take overall responsibility for its implementation and for promoting a culture of integrity, respect, and accountability throughout the organisation.
